Storybook Character Adventure
On September 27th, 2024, Storybook Character Adventure came to life, providing an opportunity for heart-warming memories for children and families.
This magical event was primarily geared toward children ages 2 – 8 and their families, for the first time throughout Gilbert House Children’s Museum. Children and their families had the opportunity to meet thirty real life storybook characters.
Upon entering, each child received a map of the facility and an autograph book that were eagerly signed by anxious storybook. Families took photos with the characters and children received hugs or high fives from their favorite storybook characters.
Special areas were set aside for crafts and storytelling while music played in the background. A photo station was available where children received a printed onsite photo with a character such as Olaf or Peppa Pig.
Delicious snacks and drinks were served in the outdoor playground area.
Then at 7:45 pm, storybook characters gathered at the playground to sing songs, award prizes and award each child with their very own storybook and other swag items from our event sponsors.
This memorable Storybook Character Adventure also served as a fundraiser for the over 6,000 children in Marion and Polk counties in the Dolly Parton Imagination Library book gifting program.
This program mails a quality age-appropriate book to registered children every month until the month they reach age 5, at that time Dolly sings them “Happy Birthday” as a special treat. Won't it be great if Dolly could sing Happy Birthday to all of us, to the child inside.
