Imagine Rotary
2022-23 brings in a change for all. Incoming Rotary International President Jennifer Jones, known as a storyteller, a rock star, with the ability to make everyone feel special, believes that "this time calls for peace and unity, for embracing despite our differences." She has an unboundless energy. In 2001-02, she served as president of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland. At every meeting, she'd randomly pick a member, have them stand, and tell why they were important to the club. " Every week, people would show up to see who the next person would be." An important lesson about taking care of members, a priority now that she is RI president. "We are having fun, doing good work, and we like each other," she says. At a very young age she had breast cancer and at one of her lowest points in her life, she remembers that others did not count her out. She learned that we all have value, can contribute and participate. Shortly thereafter with the pandemic, the world came to a halt, she pitched the idea of a telethon, not only to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation, but an opportunity to bring people together and show that Rotarians are people of action. "She has the ability to inspire!" The ability to bring peace in a world of turmoil. Rotary International's first female President, Jennifer Jones, asks us to Imagine what Rotary can be, what Rotary can do in the world. Thursday, June 30th, Rotary Club of Salem Creekside incoming President Rich Davis, is imagining what this year brings to us and those we help. President Elect, Terry Page, and President Elect Nominee, Tom Edmiston along with President Rich Davis are starting Rotary's Visioning Process for the next three years. "As President, you are not alone, everyone in the club is a vital partner, those who open their homes for socials activities, members who reach out to interesting guest speakers, those who fill board positions, work on the website or service projects, those who bring humor, caring nature to each and every meeting. Each member has an important role and my immense gratitude for their years or service and friendship," Maria Mokrai. "That's what makes the Rotary Club of Salem Creekside so very special."
